StartAnew offers healing-centered programs and community initiatives that support Black and Brown women, girls, families, and Minneapolis residents through empowerment, life skills, leadership, direct support, and community care.
Sovereign Sisters
Sovereign Sisters is a healing and leadership community for Black and Brown women impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma, and justice-system involvement. Through facilitated circles, empowerment activities, life skills, advocacy, and community connection, participants are supported in reclaiming their voices, rebuilding confidence, and moving toward self-defined success.
Focus Areas: Healing, leadership, advocacy, trauma recovery, life skills, and community support.
Rooted & Rising
Rooted & Rising is a youth empowerment program for Black and Brown girls and young ladies ages 13–17 who are navigating trauma, community challenges, and life transitions. Through healing-centered group sessions, leadership development, confidence-building activities, life skills, and supportive mentorship, participants are encouraged to grow, use their voices, and rise into their full potential.
Focus Areas: Healing, confidence, leadership, self-esteem, life skills, mentorship, and positive identity development.
It’s OK 2 B U
It’s OK 2 B U is a healing and empowerment space for women and young ladies to build confidence, connection, life skills, and hope. Through supportive group sessions, shared meals, honest conversation, and community-based encouragement, participants are reminded that they are valued, capable, and worthy of being fully themselves.
Focus Areas: Self-esteem, healing, life skills, connection, confidence, relationships, and personal growth.
Community Holiday Campaign
StartAnew’s Community Holiday Campaign provides seasonal support to families through holiday meals, youth gifts, winter essentials, and community care. This initiative helps reduce stress during important times of the year while creating moments of dignity, connection, and hope for families and children in the community.
Focus Areas: Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, youth gift support, winter coats, family support, and community care.
